A report claiming that former vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar ‘s office was sealed and he was asked to vacate his official residence, following his resignation, has gone viral on social media. However, after the post had gone viral, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check division dismissed the report as fake.
Stating that the claims purported made through a post are false, the PIB issued a statement saying, “It is being widely claimed on social media that the Vice President’s official residence has been sealed and the former VP has been asked to vacate his residence immediately. These claims are fake. Don’t fall for misinformation. Always verify news from official sources.”

The rumours were floated following Dhankar’s resignation from the post of vice president on health grounds.
An image that has gone viral claims that Dhankar’s office has been sealed. Sharing the same on X, a user wrote, “VP Dhankar has been asked to vacate his residence immediately after he resigned from his post. No way he resigned due to health concerns.”
In a shocking move, the 74-year-old tendered his resignation on Monday evening citing health reasons and the need to follow medical advice. The resignation, effective immediately, was submitted in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution.
In a letter addressed to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, Dhankhar wrote, “To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution.” He had also thanked President Murmu “for her unwavering support and the wonderful, soothing working relationship” they shared during his tenure.
Earlier, reports claimed that the former VP will move into a type VIII government bungalow soon. Dhankar was the first occupant to move into the newly-built vice president’s residence located next to the Parliament complex, in April last year.
